From inception, Oak River Financial has provided services for a select group of investors. Formed in 1998 as a Registered Agents Advisory Firm, Oak River was created from a spin-off of The First Bank & Trust, Trust Department. In 2004 Gary Freeman purchased all shares of Oak River Financial and was the sole owner. In the spring of 2011, he sold the firm to his son, Aaron.
Today, Aaron Freeman is the President and CEO of Oak River Financial. Oak River Financial has positioned itself as a leading Investment Advisory Firm with a strong focus on women investors. “We are not a one size fits all firm, we are laser focused on what we do and we do it well!” said Aaron Freeman. “Today, we have positioned ourselves to provide specialized solutions to meet the specific needs of our clients.”

Aaron Freeman is a native of Southeast Texas. He graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School in Beaumont, Texas. Aaron attended Stephen F. Austin State University and Lamar University, where he majored in business and was on the dean’s list. Aaron was the honor graduate of his United States Marine Corps recruiting class, and was meritoriously promoted twice. Aaron was also the recipient of the Leatherneck Award.
Aaron was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2000 due to injury. In 2004, he began his career in financial services with Oak River Financial Group, Inc. He is an Investment Advisor Representative (series 65 holder) and a license agent with the State of Texas Department of Insurance. In 2011, Aaron purchased Oak River Financial Group, Inc.
Aaron was NAIFA’s 2010 “Rising Star” Award recipient. He holds the highly coveted Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Aaron previously held the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) designation. He has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). In 2012, he was granted membership into the exclusive court of the table for MDRT; less than 1% of financial professionals achieve this honor. Aaron is also a multi-year winner of the Five Star Award for Wealth Managers
Aaron is an avid outdoorsmen. He has entries into both Safari Club International (SCI) and The Pope and Young Club (P&Y) record books. He is a lifetime member of RMEF (Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation), HSC (Houston Safari Club), and B.A.S.S. Aaron actively competes in fishing tournaments. When not working with clients Aaron spends his free time with his 9 year old son Carter and his loving wife Nichol.

Nichol Freeman has spent the majority of her career in the Oil and Gas Industry. She has had many roles including project manager for several oil and gas operators, VP of Operations for Gulf Bend Resources and President of Schaefer Oilfield Services. She has spent the last 10 years managing more complex projects ranging from $50 Million to $100 Million.
In her various roles as Senior Management, Nichol has participated in many capital raises. As an Independent Oil and Gas Operator, Nichol was always seeking new capital for ongoing operations and new developments. Her passion for finance lead her into her newest role as VP/CCO of Oak River Financial Group. Nichol possesses considerable organizational abilities and applies these talents to drive key elements of our technology platform, including researching and implementing new technology enhancements in an effort to continually improve the accuracy and efficiency of our operations and client servicing.
As a registered investment advisor and licensed insurance agent, Nichol plays a key role in some of the firm’s long-standing client relationships, seeking to deliver an exceptional, thoughtful client experience. She takes an empathetic approach to help those going through major life changes such as loss of a loved one, divorce, retirement and career change. Her other passion is helping single moms and families with children with disabilities by guiding them through the investment process to better plan for the unforeseen challenges that await them.
Nichol is responsible for facilitating regular client outreach, planning client events, quarterly performance updates and other communications as well as many essential regulatory and compliance functions as Oak River’s Chief Compliance Officer.
Nichol was born and raised in Texas. She attended Texas A&M University and currently resides in Montgomery, Texas with her husband and her two sons. She is a fitness fanatic and loves spending time outdoors with her boys or in the mountains hunting with her husband. Nichol is member of the Texas Trophy Hunters Association and a lifetime member of the HSC (Houston Safari Club).
